Peg Shepherd, RN, PhD

Peg Shepherd, RN, PhD, is a nurse practitioner who also happens to have multiple sclerosis. Her greatest strength in this area is her knowledge about the life adjustments required by someone living with this disease. Shepherd practices full time as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at the Veteran's Administration in Portland, Oregon. She has several patients in her caseload who suffer from chronic, progressive illnesses, including multiple sclerosis.

Shepherd was awarded a BSN from the University of Texas in 1973, a MSN from Texas Women's University in 1981, and a PhD from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1988. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis while working toward her PhD.
