Sheila Bloom Josephson, PhD
Sheila Bloom Josephson, PhD, is a psychotherapist with more than 30 years of experience helping her clients deal with issues such as self-esteem, depression, and interpersonal relationships. She has worked extensively with couples and families. A mother of two, Josephson blogs about a child’s need to “feel safe,” the essential emotional component of any child’s (and parent’s) safety education.
Josephson received her MS in social work from Columbia University in 1973 and her PhD from Columbia in 1997. She has worked in many settings including a mental hospital, residential treatment center, several mental health clinics, and general hospitals. She is currently a therapist in private practice working with individuals, couples, and families. In addition, she is a staff clinician at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, with particular affiliation in two of their divisions: Family and Couples Treatment Services, and Gay and Lesbian Affirmative Psychotherapy
