Hantavirus Directory

The Hantavirus is a life-threatening viral disease that is spread to humans via rodents. The symptoms are very similar to the flu and include fever, chills and muscle aches. It is believed that humans contract the Hantavirus by coming into contact with contaminated dust from feces and urine from rodents, especially mice. People may come into contact with this dust after cleaning and sweeping homes, barns, garages and other places mice are known to nest. After people have come into contact with the virus, they may have a general ill feeling, flu-like symptoms and then start to feel better. However, after 1 to 2 days breathing may become difficult and the disease worsens very quickly. Start here to get information about the Hantavirus, more symptoms and treatments.
