I Think I'm a Sex Addict. What Should I Do?
See a sex therapist, and consider bringing your partner.
Question:
I find myself drawn to porn and personal ads on the Internet, but I'm married and I'm afraid I'm going to act on my urges. I'm not sure what to do.
Answer:
I would recommend that you consider speaking to a sex therapist. Consider going alone first to think out loud with a professional listener in this area.
Then consider bringing your wife in on it -- if you like. Most therapists will tell you that if you wish to bring in a partner, that you shouldn't disclose anything that you would consider a secret from your spouse that could be pivotal for resolving the sexual issues. So, if you do this, be sure to ask the therapist's policy and think it through carefully.
