Hearing loss caused by loud noises is called noise-induced hearing
loss (acoustic trauma). It is more common for gradual hearing loss to occur
from long-term (chronic) exposure to loud noise than from a sudden (acute) loud
burst of sound. Hearing loss may be temporary or permanent. Long-term exposure
to loud noises can cause permanent hearing loss.
The following suggestions will help you care for hearing aids:
Keep hearing aids away from heat and moisture.
Replace dead batteries immediately.
Clean hearing aids as instructed.
Do not use hairspray or other hair care products while wearing hearing aids.
Turn off hearing aids when they are not in use.
Keep replacement batteries and small aids away from children and pets.
Be careful not to drop the hearing aid.
