Drop your chin just a tad.
Doctor Allan Wulc is a board certified, facial surgeon.
It's not enough to have an MD, as you know it's not enough to do an internship and really it's not enough to do a residency either, because these boards actually certify you for competencies.
That competency is key. Can the doctor do what he says he can, and do it well?
Ask yourself, there's physicians out there that have been certified for 40 years that do not have to take any kind of updates or an examination. Uh I mean would you feel safe doing that?
Probably not… which is why Doctor Wulc, a highly regarded surgeon with over 20 years of experience, is hitting the books again to get re-certified.
It keeps the physician up to date on current developments and current techniques and it helps the patient because they get, uh, fewer medical errors and better clinical outcomes.
Recertification is a growing trend in a number of medical specialties. And while it takes time to prepare for the exam, Doctor Wulc says it's worth it.
All in all it was a really rewarding experience. I enjoyed having to do it and I enjoyed taking the test.
And that test makes it more likely that patients get exactly what they expect, quality care.
Whether it's endoscopic laparoscopic surgery, or GYN, or cosmetic surgery…you want your doctor to be certified in that and you don't know that unless, unless they have passed their boards.
A passing grade on a process that offers peace of mind. For WebMD, I’m Damon Meharg.
