No one can go behind Blake, okay?
A lot of times these kids so badly wanna' be leaders.
Tom Scott understands kids with A-D-H-D more than most people. He also grew up trying to outrun the disorder.
What made me and inspired me to do the group, was to provide something for children at a young age, that I needed, that I didn't get.
What he provides is the running, relaxation and support group, a unique program where kids with A-D-H-D can let their hair down.
I really do like it.
You're free, you can do what you want - get all that energy out.
But while the kids get all that energy out, they also learn to improve social skills.
Owhh!
Sorry!
And they learn how to pace themselves and steer their energy in a positive direction.
Ready, go!
They're able to come here and just sort of be themselves, mesh with one another and be able to sort of value themselves where they are right now.
A session of breathing and imagery exercises helps them relax. And because these kids are often ridiculed in school, they learn problem solving and anger management. Parents give the program two thumbs up and say it's making a big difference at home and at school.
I quit getting as many phone calls, ya' know, John had a problem with this or had a problem with that.
Here he doesn't have to worry about if the kids are going to hate him or if they're going to make fun of him.
And for a little one with A-D-H-D, that's a huge victory.
Good job, Sam!
