Treatment Options for Inflammatory Breast Cancer

    Treatment of inflammatory breast cancer may include the following:

    • Chemotherapy.
    • Chemotherapy followed by surgery (breast-conserving surgery or total mastectomy), with lymph node dissection followed by radiation therapy. Additional therapy (chemotherapy, hormone therapy, or both) may be given.
    • Clinical trials testing new anticancer drugs, new drug combinations, and new ways of giving treatment.

For more specific results, refine the search by using other search features, such as the location of the trial, the type of treatment, or the name of the drug.     Stage Information for Breast Cancer Treatment and Pregnancy

    Procedures used for determining the stage of breast cancer should be modified for pregnant women to avoid radiation exposure to the fetus. Nuclear scans cause fetal radiation exposure.[1] If such scans are essential for evaluation, hydration and Foley catheter drainage of the bladder can be used to prevent retention of radioactivity.
