Mary Ruth Buchness, MD

A board-certified dermatologist with degrees from Harvard and Columbia Universities, Mary Ruth Buchness, MD practices medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology in New York City.  She is an accomplished author as well as an internationally known speaker who has presented talks and papers on topics including skin cancer, psoriasis, HIV-related skin disease, cosmetic dermatology, antifungal medications, alternative medicine, and general skin care. 

Buchness completed her training in dermatology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, after which she served on the full-time faculty at the NYU School of Medicine and was the assistant chief of dermatology at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Manhattan.  She then became chief of dermatology at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in Manhattan.

She  is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the vice president of the New York State Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery,  a member of the executive committee of the Advisory Board of the American Academy of Dermatology, and a member of the American Academy of Dermatologic Surgery.  She is included in the Who’s Who in Medicine,Healthcare, Who’s Who in the East, and Castle Connelly’s How to Find the Best Doctors in the New York Metropolitan Area.
