Multiple myeloma treatments can cause uncomfortable side effects, though everyone's reactions will vary. If you have pain from treatment, there are ways to ease painful side effects naturally, along with your doctor's treatment plan.

Nausea is a common side effect of multiple myeloma treatment.

Acupuncture, acupressure and acustimulation can help. Each technique is performed differently, but they all aim to stimulate specific points in your body known as acupoints.

For nausea relief at home, try ginger. Use fresh ginger root to make tea or a homemade ginger ale. You can even chew on candied ginger and peeled ginger root to get relief.

Multiple myeloma treatments can also cause neuropathy, which is nerve damage.

Easing the pain from nerve damage starts by improving nerve health. Adding foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids to your diet can help. Or try supplements.

To ease foot pain caused by nerve damage, wear loose-fitting socks and super soft padded shoes.

Oral mucositis is another possible side effect of treatment. This can cause sores on your gums and tongue, pain in your mouth or throat, and difficulty swallowing.

Honey helps relieve pain by coating sores and your throat.

Chewing on ice chips will numb your mouth and temporarily reduce pain.

Be sure to talk with your doctor before starting any natural pain regimen, and follow your treatment plan.
