The NIAID is one of the institutes in the National Institutes of Health, a division of the US Government. Their primary mission is to support and conduct research in allergic and infectious diseases as a means to determine methods for prevention, treatment, and management of the diseases. This is a national, private, non-profit organization that works to bring together the appropriate people and organizations to address health problems brought on by allergic diseases. The organization is made up of health professionals, scientists, and others in the health care field who are working to address health problems brought on by allergic diseases, including hay fever, asthma, allergic reactions to molds, animals, drugs, foods, and insect stings. They offer postdoctoral fellowships in immunology and asthma, as well as produce many patient education pamphlets and materials for health professionals.
