Today's Daily Dose
Cooked Tomatoes for Prostate Cancer
WebMD's Michael W. Smith, MD Your daily dose of health information selected by WebMD physician editors.
Concerned about prostate cancer? It is the most common cancer in men after all.

No single change in your diet is going to work a miracle. But one food may be particularly helpful.

That food? The simple tomato. It's full of lycopene, a substance with anti-cancer effects. Watermelons and pink grapefruits also carry lycopene. Tomatoes, however, are a particularly rich source -- if they're cooked.

Tomato sauce and tomato paste are rich sources of lycopene. So is ketchup, although it's also full of fattening sweeteners.
