Today's Daily Dose
Picking the Right Pillow
WebMD's Charlotte Grayson, MD Your daily dose of health information selected by WebMD physician editors.
Sleeping with the right pillow can help prevent a lot of unnecessary tossing and turning, not to mention sore shoulders and an achy neck in the morning.

Here are some tips for picking out the right pillow:

  • Pillows should be firm and spring back into shape when you fold them in half.
  • Choose a manageable size. A pillow that's too big may cause abnormal neck flexing and lead to muscle spasms.
  • If you have a back problem, consider a cervical (neck) pillow that is contoured to your neck and gives the neck support without flexing it too much.
