| Body Transformed
Weight: 190 pounds It looks like my weight loss has slowed down. I've been expecting this for a while. Most of the people who have had gastric bypass surgery that I've met via online message boards go through plateau periods where they barely lose any weight at all or even stop losing altogether. I'm no doctor, but I think maybe our bodies go through adjustment periods as we lose weight. Even though I've only lost a few pounds recently, I can feel that my clothes are getting looser. I keep having to go through the closet to weed out the stuff that's gotten too big to wear. It makes no sense to become emotionally attached to any particular article of clothing because I'm shrinking out of them at a pretty fast rate. Thank goodness for friends who have given me their castoffs! I'd hate to have to replace an entire wardrobe every six weeks! My body is not shrinking with any kind of consistency. My legs are skinny while my tummy is big, so if a pair of jeans can be buttoned and zipped, the legs bag in the wind and I feel like I look like a clown. However, if the legs fit, I can't begin to zip/button them. My butt is now completely flat and I'm getting very mushy everywhere. I feel like a partially inflated balloon left over from a child's birthday party. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining! Not one bit. It's just strange to watch this metamorphosis over which I seem to have no control. I'm walking at the local YMCA on a semi-consistent basis, but the marshmallow-like feel of my body doesn't seem to be affected by the exercise. I'm betting it'll take a year or two to regain any kind of muscle tone. At any rate, I'm wearing smaller jeans than I've had on in years, so I'm one happy camper!
