WebMD The Magazine

July/August 2005

Nan's Note

From Your NO. 1 Health Advocate

We want to thank you and your physician's office for the overwhelming support we received in response to our first issue of WebMD the Magazine in April/May 2005. We were warmed by the fact that letters, calls and emails of praise and thanks came not only from patients but from physicians, nurses, and office administrators.

Hannah O'Brien, office administrator in Owings Mills, Maryland wrote:

"Congratulations! This is a great idea! Please send us 3 for our waiting room!"

Dr. Don Hurley in Charleston, South Carolina:

"Please send us 50 copies each month."

Dr. Bill Ritter in Stuart, Florida simply said,

"Keep'm Coming!"

Dr. Brothers at Midwest Occupational Medicine in Kansas City:

"I am thinking of using it [WebMD the Magazine] as a bulletin board teaching display, or something similar. Keep up the good work!

Wow! For us at WebMD, this is the greatest of all accomplishments, to offer accessible health information that is right for patients and those who care for those patients.

WebMD understands that health is more than an annual trip to the doctor's office - it is part of our everyday lives, affecting our families, valued co-workers and close friends.

Since our last issue of the magazine, I took a dear friend through the Physician Finder and Back & Neck Assessment on WebMD.com to help him make a decision about treatment for chronic neck pain. And I was reminded again how a simple" flu" can wreak havoc when two WebMD employees -- the Executive Editor of the Magazine, Marjorie Martin, and the VP of Human Resources, Lois Rickard -- were bedridden for days with chills, aching muscles and a host of other symptoms.

Health is always on our minds and WebMD is here for you and your doctor around the clock. That is why we started WebMD.com in the first place and that is why we are pleased to offer our second issue of WebMD the Magazine.

Yours in well-being,
