How to Prevent Falls
Roll over the numbers or the rooms to find out how you can eliminate common household hazards.
Bedroom
Remove loose wires, cords, and throw rugs from all floors. Reduce clutter.
Hallway
Make sure halls, stairways, and entrances are well lit. Turn lights on if you get up in the middle of the night.
Bathroom
Install grab bars and non-skid tape in the tub or shower. Install a night light.
Dining Room
Keep your intake of alcoholic beverages to a minimum.
Kitchen
Install non-skid rubber mats near the sink and stove. Clean spills immediately.
Stairs
Make sure stair treads, rails, and rugs are secure.
Living Room
Make sure rugs are anchored and smooth. Keep furniture in its accustomed place.
Indoors and Out
Wear sturdy, rubber-soled shoes.
