Pronunciation (dō′pă-mēn)
- An intermediate in tyrosine metabolism and precursor of norepinephrine and epinephrine; neurotransmitter is the peripheral and central nervous systems; depletion of dopamine produces Parkinson disease.
Syn: 3-hydroxytyramine, decarboxylated dopa
