- Extracellular filamentous structures such as collagenous elastic connective tissue fibers.
- The nerve cell axon with its glial cell or Schwann cell envelope.
- Elongated, hence threadlike, cells such as muscle cells and the epithelial cells comprising the major part of the eye lens.
- Nutrients in the diet that are not digested by gastrointestinal enzymes.
