intervertebral disc
- a disc interposed between the bodies of adjacent vertebrae. It is composed of an outer fibrous part (anulus fibrosus) that surrounds a central gelatinous mass (nucleus pulposus).
Syn: discus intervertebralis, fibrocartilago intervertebralis, intervertebral cartilage
