luteal phase defect
- a condition characterized by inadequate secretion of progesterone during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, with resultant infertility; subnormal luteal function commonly attributed to abnormal pituitary gonadotropin secretion and ovarian follicle dysfunction.
