Dominique Walton Brooks MD, MBA

Dominique Walton Brooks MD, MBA, is a Medical Editor for WebMD. Her responsibilities include selecting and editing medical content for the Living Better section of WebMD Health and general news.

Brooks is an ophthalmologist and completed her ophthalmology residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee in June 1997. She graduated from Birmingham-Southern College cum laude in 1989 with a BS in chemistry as a National Achievement Scholar, a Claude Lawson Scholar, and a Cigna Scholar. She then graduated from Vanderbilt University Medical School in 1993 where she was active in the Student National Medical Association (SNMA). Brooks then finished a one-year internal medicine internship at the University of Alabama in Birmingham before starting her residency.

After completing her residency, Brooks returned to the University of Alabama in Birmingham to join the faculty of the department of ophthalmology as an instructor. There she assisted with the training of the ophthalmology residents, worked in the indigent Eye Care Clinic, and maintained a private practice. During this time, she also earned her master's in business administration from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

Brooks' professional associations include the American Medical Association, The American Academy of Ophthalmology, the National Medical Association, and The American College of Physician Executives.
