How the interaction occurs:
Ketoconazole may slow down how quickly your liver processes cinacalcet.
What might happen:
The amount of cinacalcet in your blood may increase and it may lower the amount of calcium in your blood too much. Symptoms of low calcium levels include muscle cramps or pain, numbness and/or tingling of the hands and/or feet, muscle pain, and seizures.
What you should do about this interaction:
Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines. Let your doctor know if you have any symptoms of low calcium levels, such as muscle cramps or pain, numbness and/or tingling of the hands and/or feet, muscle pain, or seizures.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it.
