Narcotic Analgesics/Cimetidine

How the interaction occurs:

The cause of the interaction is not known. When these medicines are taken together your body may not process your pain medicine properly.

What might happen:

You may experience excessive drowsiness, sluggishness, and disorientation. You may experience shortness of breath or have difficulty breathing.

What you should do about this interaction:

Contact your healthcare professional (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) if you experience excessive drowsiness or have trouble breathing. Your doctor may want to adjust the dose of your pain medicine.Contact your healthcare professional (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) as soon as possible about taking these two medicines together.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it.
