    An adult over 60:

    management or monitoring precaution: Renal-Adjust dosing interval for CrCL<50mL/min. Fixed dose combinations containing tenofovir are not appropriate if dose adjustment is required. Musculoskeletal-Decreases in bone mineral density have been observed. Consider calcium and vitamin D3 supplementation.

    Giving Viread to a child under 12:

    management or monitoring precaution: Safety and efficacy not established age < 2 years. Potential risk of osteomalacia.

    management or monitoring precaution: Potential risk of decreased bone mineral density. Unknown effects on long-term bone health. Assess bone density with history of fractures or underlying bone loss.
