How the interaction occurs:
Your seizure medicine may speed up how quickly your liver processes risperidone. Risperidone may slow down how quickly your liver processes carbamazepine.
What might happen:
The amount of risperidone in your blood may decrease and it may not work as well. The amount of carbamazepine in your blood may increase and cause side effects.
What you should do about this interaction:
Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines. Your doctor may want to check the amount of your medicines in your blood. Your doctor may want to change the doses of your medicines. Let your doctor know if you notice any changes in how your medicine is working or any side effects.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
