What should I know regarding pregnancy, nursing and administering Ergo-Caff-Pentobarbital rectal to children or the elderly?

If you are:

Pregnant:

FDB Only When Necessary: REPORTS OF MISCARRIAGE,POOR FETAL GROWTH POSSIBLY ASSOC W/HIGH DOSES OF CAFFEINE

Absolute Contraindication

Not Recommended: TERATOGENIC; INFANT COAGULATION DEFECTS REVERSIBLE WITH ORAL VIT K

Nursing:

Precaution: HIGH DOSES MAY CAUSE HYPERACTIVITY AND WAKEFULNESS IN INFANT.

Absolute Contraindication: ADVERSE EFFECTS REPORTED IN NEONATES

Precaution: POSSIBILITY OF CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM DEPRESSION IN NURSING INFANT.

Precaution: MAY INHIBIT LACTATION. AVOID CHRONIC USE.

An adult over 60:

Precaution: INDUCED HYPOTHERMIA/ISCHEMIC COMPLICATIONS MORE LIKELY

Contraindication: (SOM)(BEERS) AVOID IN ELDERLY:EXCITEMENT/CONFUSION/DEPRESSION/FALLS

Precaution: (BEERS) ANTICHOLINERGIC: SEDATION, COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENT, GLAUCOMA

Precaution: (BEERS) AVOID IN ELDERLY WITH INSOMNIA DUE TO CNS STIMULATION EFFECT

Giving Ergo-Caff-Pentobarbital rectal to a child under 12:

Warning: CAUTION IN SEIZURE DISORD & CV DISEASE/PREM NEONATE WITH RENAL,HEPATIC IMPAIR

Warning: ADVERSE CNS EFFECTS USUALLY MORE SEVERE IN CHILDREN.
