Pregnant:

Only When Necessary: NEONATAL WITHDRAWAL/RESP.DEPRESS. W/CHRONIC OR HIGH DOSE; SMALL TERATOGENIC RISK

Only When Necessary: EVIDENCE FOR MALFORMATIONS; CAN REDUCE UTERINE BLOOD FLOW CAUSING FETAL HYPOXIA

Nursing:

Precaution: MONITOR FOR CHANGES IN RESPIRATION, GI EFFECTS, SEDATION, FEEDING PATTERNS

Precaution: ORAL BIOAVAILABILITY LOW; INFANT EXPOSURE MAY BE MINIMAL

Precaution: LIMITED DATA SUGGEST INCREASED DROWSINESS, AND IRRITABILITY

An adult over 60:

Precaution: (SOM)(BEERS) MORE SENSITIVE TO CV & CNS EFX; URINARY RET.,INSOMNIA.

Precaution: (SOM)(BEERS) STRONG ANTICHOLIN.CAUT. W/BPH; MAX.25MG/DAY

Precaution: (SOM)RISKS:HYPOTENSION/RESP.DEPRESS/CONFUSION/CONSTIPATION

Giving Rindal HPD to a child under 12:

Absolute Contraindication: POSSIBLE CNS EXCITATION, CONVULSIONS IN NEWBORNS.

Absolute Contraindication: RISK OF CNS EXCITATION. DO NOT USE AGE <6 YEARS WITHOUT CLINICIAN CONSULT.

Relative Contraindication: NO SAFETY/EFFICACY AS COUGH SUPPRESS. AGE < 6 YRS. RESP.DEPRESSION RISK.

Relative Contraindication: RISK OF RESPIRATORY DEPRESSION. CAUTION WITH USE. WEIGH RISK:BENEFIT.

Absolute Contraindication: DO NOT USE IN PEDIATRICS <6 YRS OF AGE UNLESS CLINICIAN CONSULTATION.
