These medicines may change how your liver processes each other.
What might happen:
In some cases, the amount of artemether and lumefantrine in your blood may increase and cause an increase in side effects such as headache, dizziness, difficulty sleeping, rapid heart beat, abdominal pain, and muscle aches. In other cases, the amount of artemether, lumefantrine, or your protease inhibitor may decrease and they may not work as well.
What you should do about this interaction:
Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. Your doctor may want to change your antimalarial. Let your healthcare professional know if the side effects of your medicine increase.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
