Zaleplon/Cimetidine

How the interaction occurs:

Cimetidine decreases your body's ability to remove zaleplon.

What might happen:

The amount of zaleplon in your blood may increase, which can increase the effects of zaleplon. This may cause excessive drowsiness; confusion; sluggishness; loss of coordination; slow, shallow breathing; and/or loss of consciousness.

What you should do about this interaction:

Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. If the effects of your zaleplon are too strong, your doctor may want to decrease its dose.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it.
