Cefdinir/Oral Iron

How the interaction occurs:
Iron may bind with cefdinir in your stomach and intestines and prevent your body from absorbing cefdinir.
What might happen:
The amount of cefdinir in your blood may decrease and it may not work as well against your infection. The combination of cefdinir and iron may turn your stool a reddish color.
What you should do about this interaction:
If you are taking an iron supplement or a multivitamin containing iron, take your cefdinir at least 2 hours before or after the iron containing medicine. Let your healthcare professional (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know if your infection does not seem to be getting better.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
