Mycophenolate/Non-Calcium Containing Phosphate Binders

How the interaction occurs:
Medicines such as aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, lanthanum, and sevelamer may decrease the amount of mycophenolate your body absorbs.
What might happen:
The levels of mycophenolate in your blood may decrease and the drug may not be as effective.
What you should do about this interaction:
You should not take any medicine containing magnesium hydroxide and/or aluminum hydroxide, lanthanum, or sevelamer at the same time you take your mycophenolate. You should separate taking the two medicines by several hours. Notify your healthcare professional (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) if you notice any change in your condition.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
