How the interaction occurs:
Some medicines may speed up how quickly your body processes rilpivirine.
What might happen:
The amount of rilpivirine in your blood may decrease and it may not work as well.
What you should do about this interaction:
Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know right away that you are taking these medicines together or if you have taken carbamazepine, dexamethasone, phenobarbital, phenytoin, oxcarbazepine, rifabutin, rifampin, rifapentine, or St. John's wort in the previous two weeks. Let your doctor if you stop taking any of the medicines or if you condition changes. Your doctor may want to change your medicine.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it.
