How the interaction occurs:
Abatacept may decrease your immune system's ability to respond to a vaccination with a live vaccine.(1)
What might happen:
The vaccine might not work. You may not develop immunity to the disease the vaccination is supposed to prevent.(1)
What you should do about this interaction:
Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking abatacept before receiving any vaccinations.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it.
