Erivedge oral Warnings
Vismodegib must not be used during pregnancy because it may cause serious harm (possibly death) to an unborn baby. Women of childbearing age must have a negative pregnancy test within 7 days before starting this medication. They must also use a reliable form of birth control before starting vismodegib, while taking it, and for 7 months after the last dose of vismodegib. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, tell your doctor immediately (see Precautions section).
Vismodegib passes into semen. Men taking vismodegib, even men who have had a vasectomy, must use condoms with spermicide during sex with women of childbearing age, both during treatment with vismodegib and for 2 months after the last dose of this medication.
Erivedge oral Uses
This medication is used to treat adults with a type of skin cancer called basal cell carcinoma. It is used if the cancer has spread to other parts of the body, has come back after surgery, or if your doctor decides that the cancer cannot be treated by surgery or radiation. It works by blocking the Hedgehog pathway found in basal cancer cells and only a few normal cells, such as hair follicles.How to use Erivedge oral
Read the Medication Guide provided by your pharmacist before you start taking vismodegib and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Take this medication by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once daily. Swallow the capsules whole. Do not crush or chew the capsules. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day.
Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.
Since this drug can be absorbed through the skin and lungs, women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant should not handle this medication or breathe the dust from the contents of the capsules.
Erivedge oral Side Effects
Muscle spasms, hair loss, taste changes/loss, weight loss, tiredness, nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite, constipation, vomiting, or joint pain may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

Erivedge oral Precautions
Before taking vismodegib, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history.
Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products).
This medication must not be used during pregnancy. It may harm an unborn baby. Men and women must use an effective form of birth control (such as condoms with spermicide and birth control pills) while taking this medication. Consult your doctor for more details and to discuss reliable forms of birth control. (See also Warning section.)
It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Because of the potential harm to a nursing infant, breast-feeding while using this drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

If overdose is suspected, contact a poison control center or emergency room immediately. US residents can call their local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Canada residents can call a provincial poison control center.NOTES:

Laboratory and/or medical tests (such as a pregnancy test) must be performed before starting vismodegib and periodically to monitor your progress or check for side effects. Consult your doctor for more details.MISSED DOSE:
If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.STORAGE:
Store at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and pets.
Do not flush medications down the toilet or pour them into a drain unless instructed to do so. Properly discard this product when it is expired or no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company.
