How the interaction occurs:
Boceprevir may affect how quickly your body processes buprenorphine and methadone.
What might happen:
The amount of buprenorphine or methadone in your blood may change. If it decreases, you may experience pain or withdrawal symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, irritability, sleep disturbances. If it increases, you may experience excessive drowsiness, sluggishness, disorientation, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing.
What you should do about this interaction:
Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. Contact your doctor if you experience an increase in pain, withdrawal symptoms, or if you experience any signs of excessive drowsiness, sluggishness, disorientation, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing. Your doctor may want to adjust the dose of your medicine.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it.
