Ponatinib/Strong CYP3A4 Inducers

How the interaction occurs:
Carbamazepine, mitotane, phenobarbital, phenytoin, rifabutin, rifampin and St. John's Wort may speed up how quickly your liver processes ponatinib.
What might happen:
Your ponatinib may not work as well while you are taking, and for 2 to 4 weeks after you stop taking, these other medicines.
What you should do about this interaction:
Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together or if you have been taking carbamazepine, mitotane, phenobarbital, phenytoin, rifabutin, rifampin or St. John's Wort within 4 weeks of starting ponatinib therapy.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
