Collagenase; Papain/Topical Heavy Metals

How the interaction occurs:
Heavy metals, such as lead, mercury, and silver, which are contained in some antiseptics and other topical products, may inactivate collagenase and papain.
What might happen:
Your collagenase or papain may not work as well in treating your wound.
What you should do about this interaction:
Avoid applying products that contain lead, mercury, or silver to the same wound area to which you are applying collagenase or papain. If you have any questions, contact your healthcare professional (e.g. doctor or pharmacist).Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
