Artemether; Lumefantrine/Potent CYP3A4 Inhibitors

How the interaction occurs:

Your medicine may slow down how quickly your liver processes artemether and lumefantrine.

What might happen:

The amount of artemether and lumefantrine in your blood may increase and cause an increase in side effects such as headache, dizziness, difficulty sleeping, rapid heart beat, abdominal pain, and muscle aches.

What you should do about this interaction:

Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. Your doctor may want to change your medicine. Let your healthcare professional know if the side effects of your medicine increase or if you notice an irregular heartbeat or have any dizziness or fainting episodes.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it.
