Selected Antiarrhythmics/Selected Protease Inhibitors

How the interaction occurs:

Amprenavir, darunavir, and lopinavir-ritonavir may slow down how quickly your liver processes amiodarone, lidocaine, and quinidine.Your body turns fosamprenavir into amprenavir.

What might happen:

The amount of amiodarone, lidocaine, or quinidine in your blood may increase and cause life-threatening effects on your heart rhythm.

What you should do about this interaction:

Make sure that your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. Your doctor may want to check the amount of your antiarrhythmic in your blood. Your doctor may want to change the dose of your antiarrhythmic.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
