Theophylline/Febuxostat

How the interaction occurs:

Febuxostat may slow down how quickly your body processes theophylline.

What might happen:

The amount of theophylline in your blood may increase and cause toxic side effects, which may include loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, nervousness, agitation, headache, fast and/or irregular heartbeat, or seizures.

What you should do about this interaction:

Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. Let your doctor know right away if you develop loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, nervousness, agitation, headache, fast and/or irregular heartbeat, or seizures.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it.
