I was given Valium before I went into surgery to help me relax. It absolutely diminished any kind of anxious thoughts I had and helped me relax!

Overall diazepam is the best benzo ever. I suffer from anxiety disorder and occasional panic attack (when anxiety is very high for prolonged periods of time). Clonazepam turns me into a zombie (good for periods of insomnia though) alprazolam causes me much amnesia and just seems too strong, and lorazepam and Serax just don't last very long requiring multiple doses each day.
