I started on the injection version of Imitrex 20 years ago when it first came out. I was very thankful when the tablet came out, and even more so when it went generic. Works for most classic migraines especially if caught early. Occasionally have to take second after an hour. If the migraine is sinus related, then usually have to pair with a sinus medicine such as Tylenol Severe Sinus. I do a ... Show Full Comment

I take the generic, from "Dr. Reddy"'s labs. Nothing else worked until a few years ago, when my Dr. prescribed this. 100 mg. pills, which I break in half. It is amazing ! Gets rid of the migraine completely, with no odd, spacy, or sedated ("narcotic") feeling. It even works if you already have the migraine, such as waking up with one. Used to get incredibly bad migraines and was prescribed Imitrex as a test to see if it would help, but if anything it makes the migraines worse. I get very nauseous for hours after taking it, my forhead feels like its lit on fire, just a horrible searing pain. When I didn't have an aversion to noise before taking, I would develop it. i usually use Fioricet for tension headachs..if i catch a migraine coming on, tho, fioricet is extremly effection...otherwise, imitrax does the trick
