I got on the depo shot when I was 16. I wanted to get on it so I would not have a period. I bled for three months straight and almost got off of it. I liked it also because I only had to get a shot every three months and not worry about taking a pill everyday. I did gain a little weight but nothing more than 10 pounds. I stayed on depo for almost 6 years. The last year was pretty bad. I spotted pretty much everyday. I finally talked to my doctor about changing to something else. She told me more than likely the bleeding was caused from me staying on it for so long. I did not have any side effects minus the little bit of weight gain in the first year and a half. I have no switched to BeYaz. I havent been on it long enough to say if I like it. I do miss the depo shot and would def tell anyone to try it. BUT you have to allow it to get in you system which could take up to 4 months before you regular out!

DONT NOT GET THIS SHOT. I took this shot 1 time and my body went down hill from there. I spotted the whole 3 months. I had night sweats, anxeity, shaking/jitters, depressed, crying, ill feeling. I didnt go back to get the next shot because of these side effects and started having withdrawl symptons. I couldnt eat, felt sick, worried. I lost 10 pounds and I was only like 118. I went to the ER twice for dehydration and acid reflux. After coming off this shot will mess of yout stomach. I dont recommend this to anyone. It has been 9 weeks since I was suppose to go back and my body still isnt the same. My period did return but other than that Im still a mess. Its like while its in your sympton menapause and then when its over it makes your body feel pregnant. DONT GET THIS SHOT. ITS POSION

I was on the depo for almost 2 years. I have been off of it for over a year. I bleed everyday because this medication thins the uterus lining and it is nearly impossible to correct. I'm not even thirty! We wanted to have another baby and my doctor says that may not even be possible any more. Please be caustious of this shot. I don't recommend it.

I have been on the shot for 3 years. I first got on depo because it was free at my local clinic, and I am very happy I did. I now have insurance and still choose the shot over anything else. I have had none of the side effects, except maybe some slight hair loss, but this is also partly hereditary. I actually lost weight while on depo, and my skin looks perfect thanks to the shot. I have been on the shot for 3 years. I first got on depo because it was free at my local clinic, and I am very happy I did. I now have insurance and still choose the shot over anything else. I have had none of the side effects, except maybe some slight hair loss, but this is also partly hereditary. I actually lost weight while on depo, and my skin looks perfect thanks to the shot. BUT bone loss is a real side effect, and you should listen to your doctor when he/she tells you to take calcium. I take my calcium daily and work out 3-4 times per week! If you cannot committ to daily calcium as well as exercise then you should take something else! The calcium chews I buy are caramel flavored, which is an added bonus. One other thing worth mentioning- Depo really helped any PMS symptoms, I no longer have any mood swings and rarely cry. I used to be a very emotional person and really like that depo tones me down. I would recommend depo to any female over the age of 18 who can committ to exercise and daily calcium, it has been a life saver!
