Been on it for 3 weeks which I guess isn't enough time to let it adjust but I have been incredibly irritable, everything makes me cry, I'm moody, dry, and have no sex drive at all. I have been more hungry and eating more but I think I'm losing weight somehow. I have never had a good experience with a birth control. I think this will be my last attempt. Not going to renew the shot. I haven't been s ... Show Full Comment

I took this for a year, and the entire time I was on my period. I gained 20 pounds on it, despite watching what I eat and working out regularly. I had no sex drive what so ever, and I was grouchy all of the time. I wouldn't reccomend it, the only perk was how easy it was to get.

I was on Depo for 9 months. I wanted to stop because I had side effects that I didn't like. I lost weight (about 15 pounds), felt nauseous, breakthrough bleeding, pain in my legs, arms, and chest, really bad mood, depression, loss of sex drive, a dry patch of skin on my cheek, shortness of breath, migraines, and I was just all around miserable. I stopped taking it about 6 months ago and I recently ... Show Full Comment

I was on this medicine for about 11 years after having my first child. I was happy with the medicine until I wanted to get pregnant again and find that I can't and that it has literally ate away my bone mass and that will never come back. I now have serious hip and lower back problems and am at great risk for hip fractures and have osteoporosis at the young age of 33. This medicines side effects a ... Show Full Comment

I have been on Depo for 12 years and it has worked out great. I have not had any of the side affects mentioned and my period stopped right after about 6 months (this is a good thing because I do not want children). I take calcium everyday and I lift weights so I have not experienced any bone loss. It is crucial that you take calcium everday. My doctor says I can stay on Depo until menopause and th ...
