lots of dizziness either caused by this or lamictal with control of seizures decreases after years of use. had surgery to stop seizures and now about to finish decrease of tegretol

I am 36 and have been taking XR since I was 19. Regular teg before that. Since my brain surgery for complex partial leading to grand mal seizures, I am fully under control. A reason some, including myself, may have seizures while on it is becoming dehydrated and causing electrolytes to become unbalanced. Just make sure you stay hydrated and drink something like gatorade to fix that and you' ... Show Full Comment

I took this for complex partial seizure. After taking Tegretol (general) for about 2 years, I still have blank stare sometimes, so Doc. switched me to Tegretol XR(extended release). I am taking 200mg X3 per day. It is more effective in controlling the blank starring and gradually the zombie, lost of words and out of reality feeling were all gone by now (it's been more than 2 year now on extend ... I have been on this drug for 18 years, but suddenly it is not working.

i have been on this med for 28yrs i have had very few side effects and those that i do have are very mild except for one and that is feeling tired all the time but part of that is that i also have a sleep disorder where i do not go into rem sleep so i cant blame it all on this med though i am sure it does not help
