To all of you who are thinking of stopping the medication because of weight gain, feeling like a zombie, those terrible nightmares, lack of sex drive, etc... I too have had all of these side effects. Before starting treatment on Remeron coupled with Lexapro (after trying every other drug on the market and suffering for 5+ years) I truly was ready to die. I had no will to live, I was angry at every...

I was given Remeron for depression and sleep. I feel it did help with both but I stopped taking it last night because my appetite was out of control. I ate a giant bag of pistachios at 11 p.m. two nights ago as one example. I am 6 feet, 183 pounds so in very good shape but I didn't like the weight gain I could feel coming on. Also, having not taken it last night, I woke up without the "fog" I had been accustomed to and felt MUCH sharper and less fatigued. One thing I will say that bears remembering, everyone is different. It is frustrating when people continually post horror stories about this or that medication and scare people away from getting help. It is human nature to post bad reviews rather than good ones. The fact is, doctors don't even fully understand how antidepressants work so don't be surprised if you have to try several and change doses. Never change anything without talking to your doctor. It's a journey but it's the most important job you will ever have.Read More Read Less

I started on this medication when I was very suicidal following a harsh breakup. The breakup pain still lingers and I am everyday in emotional pain. I don't think this medication is that helpful and I have gained so far 10 pounds. I'm on 30 mg. Lost track of time but have been on for a few months now. I would not recommend this medication if you're afraid of weight gain because this is one of the worst medications for weight gain. Also, I have low motivation and brain fog.

I take 15mg before bed to help me sleep. It is very effective for that. I don't think that it has any effect on my depression though.

I have been on different meds for anxiety/depression for a long time. This is the first drug that actually worked well for me. It worked right away. I am so thankful to the doctor who prescribed this for me.

Horrible! Made me sleepy but could not fall asleep. Had restless leg syndrome. Intense hunger. Dizzy. Head in extreme fog next day. Be careful taking this medication.

I have been on this for over a year and I have gained 50 lbs. I am always hungry and have issues with binge eating. I am currently trying to get off of it but it takes forever to taper because of the side effects.

I took rameron for two weeks and had to be taken off b/c of the eating/weight gain. After almost two months off of this medication I still feel like I want to eat everything in sight. I hyper focused on food and it is causing more depression that before.

Taking for GAD. I guess it works in that it is difficult be anxious when you are unconscious. This isn’t good for much unless you are into roofies.

Took for six months after going through an episode of a family member, took away my worrisome. Did cause weight gain but was needed at the time when I could barley drink water or eat anything. If you’re going through a tough time . Try Rameron.

I’ve been taking this medication for sleep for about 6 months and I have a few pros and cons- with the cons out weighing the pros. When I first started taking it, I would definitely say it helped my sleep a lot and helped with my appetite as a whole. As time went on it did help my anxiety quite a bit, but as time went I started to feel like an absolute zombie. The medication definitely took away all my anxiety, but it was to the point where I didn’t care about anxiety. It almost felt as though I was taking Xanax. I felt no emotions or empathy. I was absolutely misserable. I didn’t feel like my self what so ever. Be very aware or these types of symptoms because it’s really not normal. I’d rather have anxiety than feel the way this medication made me feel. Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this for anxiety and took it once, at night. I had nightmares (hello anxiety) and the next day I could hardly move my body. My brain was in a complete fog. And I was hungry all the time. I never took it again. The next day my body hurt, joints & muscle pain so that was another day in bed. Days later I'm still feeling very heavy and tired. I will not take this drug AND I will not go back to the Dr. who prescribed it to me. It's does not treat anxiety, it creates it. I'm still not okay. Stay away from this stuff and away from Docs who will not listen to you. Read More Read Less

It works great, however I'm 5'1" and weighed 125 when I started it and got up to 145 because it gave me a huge appetite.

Prior to my proscribed SSRI Zoloft, the side effects hit me hard and did not subside, and my dad was proscribed for years and my doctor conveniently gave me the same, it helped with my depression but did nothing to my anxiety. Remerom had saved me, my restlessness and insomnia slowly drifted and didn't had nights well rest in years, the medication has treated me pretty well. Though it makes me more hungry and thirsty, in which the restroom is harder to pass. I recommend to speak with your doctor as it treated me well.Read More Read Less

i gained over 10% of my entire body weight in ONE MONTH. All I wanted to do was eat. Even when I ate, I was still hungry. Being hungry all the time might have contributed to my irritability, which was bad. I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND this unless you're trying to gain weight. I've been taking trazodone for years for sleep and the new doctor thought this might help more with my anxiety. Well, it didn't. And now I'm depressed because none of my clothes fit. Even my fat pants are too tight and I haven't had to wear them for years. I'm so mad they put me on this.Read More Read Less

I've been on a lot of medications over the years for my anxiety and depression.. I've taken effexor for quite some time and that keeps my anxiety at bay but wasn't doing anything for my depression. The doctors had me try welburtin (which was horrible!!) So they put me on remeron and it's amazing. I'm finally starting to feel human and want to do things again.

So far, being on this medication has been great. I was struggling to sleep at night due to my anxiety. I couldn't even tell you how long its been since I actually slept through the night. I was taking Ativan to help me sleep, but I didn't want to be on Benzos as my family struggles with addiction. ANYWAYS, 3 weeks being on this medication I have not had one sleepLESS night!! I sleep all night long and I am forever grateful for that. I also have noticed some appetite increase, especially at night time but in my case, that's beneficial. My anxiety caused me to be underweight by over 10 pounds. I have been able to start gaining that weight back and haven't lost any more weight at all. So far, so good! I also smoke weed a lot lol and that hasn't affected this medication. I've also had a couple drinks with these meds and no interactions have occurred for me. I highly recommend this pill if you have trouble sleeping and with being underweight. Also thought I should add, other anti-depressants made me feel sick to my stomach, this is the only pill that doesn't make me feel nauseated. Read More Read Less

I was switched to this from zoloft which I had been on for many years, and have had literally every side effect that is listed for zoloft. I am on day #3 of Mirtazapine and this morning I am terribly nauseous, all 3 days sleeping 10 hours and not able to "get up" as such. Very foggy and very tired. 15 mg right now. I am not sure about this one!

As soon as I started taking this medication my allergy to cannabis was gone. I used to be highly allergic to touching the plant and could never trim it after growing it and had to get others to do it for me. After a few days I noticed I cold actually wrap myself i it and had NO reaction. I've had allergies before and this took them away completely. I asked my doctor about it and she told me it has an antihistamine in it and that is what makes your tired. I was amazed at the difference it has made. Also, my emotion scale has gone from being highly emotional and over the top, to being normal. I'm more focused and less reactive. I do get the shakes a bit after I take it but I go right to bed and it puts me to sleep really well. I have noticed I am getting pains in my arms and legs sometimes that can't be explained with blood tests so I'm wondering if this is a side effect. I would like to find that out. Read More Read Less

I was put on 30mg every night while I was hospitalized after a suicide attempt. For the first week I felt like I was in a fog. I continued taking the medication as prescribed and after two weeks I didnâ??t feel like I was in a fog anymore. Itâ??s been two months and Iâ??ve gained 30lbs. Iâ??ve never been this heavy in my life except when I was pregnant. It makes me drowsy but doesnâ??t help me sleep. It also makes my appetite worse after I take it. Going to talk to my psychiatrist about other options. Read More Read Less
