I have been on Solodyn 7 months for the treatment of PLEVA. I am starting to question the side effects. For the last two to three months I have been dizzy and feeling"out of sorts" along with blurry vision, headaches, and recenlty muscle aches. I recently read that this drug was tested by the FDA for a period of 12 WEEKS. Is there any info on the long term effects????

My daughter was told to be put on solodyn (65mg)as of today. She has a very very slight case of acne. We were just going in for a facial wash if that. After reading all the bad side effects of this, there is NO way I will put her on this medication. There is hardly anything on her face to begin with and for our Dermo to put her on such a messed up medicine, No Thanks. So I want to thank all of...

this medicine was fine for the first 2 weeks, but out of nowhere during the third week, i started swelling and getting hives all over my body, but mostly around my joints. The pain when trying to use my feet to walk felt excruciating. my hands were also in a lot of pain. This honestly has been one of the worst experiences of my life, and Iâ??m not even being dramatic. This obviously doesnâ??t happen to everyone, but be aware that it can happen. (Iâ??m 15 btw and was on 80mg for severe cystic acne, and my regular doctor took me off of solodyn and prescribed me something else to help the swelling etc..)Read More Read Less

After a week of taking this medication I was experiencing severe headaches, blurred vision and noticed my blood pressure was high. I made the connection that it could be this new medication (Solodyn)that I began taking. After I stopped taking the medication the headaches were gone and my blood pressure went back to normal.

I took it for a week and had stomach pain and started feeling depressed. I didn't make the connection with the medicine at 1st but couldn't figure out why I felt so down, tired and out of it. Didn't take for 1 night and woke up feeling normal. My joy isn't worth it.

Absolutely no effect whatsoever except drying out the skin overall (but acne persisted).

Absolutely LOVE this. Worked wonders for my skin. Clears it up super fast. Saw results within a month or so. Would definitely recommend.

Been taking it for 7 weeks now. It's greatness. I cannot believe what I see in the mirror. My face is soft no bumbs. Took this with 2 topicals. Onexton and retin-A micro. Worked magic on my skin, I recommend for the user to drink A LOT of water daily. Try to not drink soda or eat sugary foods. It helps a lot. Don't scrub your face with exfoliating scrubs. Use a gentle soap and cool water and use a non comedogenic moisturizer. I promise you if you follow these steps you'll be happy in about 2 Months or so. Read More Read Less

It was fairly effective in the first couple weeks but made me itch like crazy and really messed with proper kidney function too. I stopped immediately and have been relying on topicals only.

I used this to get rid of my cystic acne and it really worked for me. I stopped taking it for a few months until my acne became worse again and now i take it regularly and my skin has NEVER been better. My skin is super clear. I only get a few pimples here and there, and some white heads but nothing like before. I do have to say I feel as though this medicine has made my skin more sensitive? I don't ever recall my skin being sensitive until the past year, which is when I've been using it. But all it means is me being gentle, and using natural products to moisturize, wash, and tone my skin. I also have combination/sensitive skin.Read More Read Less

Issues: Acne showed no improvement after 5 months of treatment. Medicine is difficult to take because you cannot take it with foods containing iron or calcium (and I eat throughout the day so this was annoying). No side effects but I'm glad to be off it.

I have been on solodyn for 12 months and I still have bad acne. No side effects though. I definitely break out when I drink alcohol, but that is probably true independent of any medication.

So I finished 10 weeks of Solodyn and I'm having mixed feelings about it. I only have acne on my forehead but it's cystic acne and it breaks out pretty bad. I'm 21 and always had acne here and there but nothing to bad. This summer however I really started to break out on my forehead. I'm growing my hair out so I am wearing a lot of hats but I make sure their clean and I make sure my hair is clean as well. It doesn't seem like that's the answer... I also cut out dairy products, coffee chocolate and junk food. I do workout a lot but I make sure to shower right after. After 10 weeks I can see some results but not drastic ones because I still break out pretty bad... Because the rest of my skin is clear and only my forehead breaks out it's difficult to see results. I pretty much given up hope for Solodyn because I'm not seeing the results I expected. I don't get any negative side effects so I don't mind taken it. Can someone help me out and tell me what's the issue? I've literally tried everything. Or is it still cleansing after 10 weeks and I should just be patient? Read More Read Less

This medication was very helpful for my skin but after a week of taking it, I have lost 10 pounds and have no appetite. I currently am no longer taking it because I am worried about this side affect.

Solodyn was extremely effective at clearing my acne, however after a week I had an allergic reaction, itching and hives all over my body and had to stop taking it. Hoping to find an alternative that works as well that i'm not allergic to.

Drug stsrted working in about two weeks. Had awful side effects. Flu-like symptoms: achy joints, awful headache, difficulty breathing, nausea. Also developed hives, everywhere. Didn't make the connection of these side effects to the drug right away but stopped taking it after two weeks. Tried the drug again two weeks later. Used it for only 1 day, all symptoms returned in spades. This drug should be off the market.

I was given Solodyn in order to treat gougerot-carteaud syndrome. This is a rash that is dark and slightly raised. It had been on my chest for at least two years before I finally went to a dermatologist about it. I just kept thinking it would go away on it's own. But it was embarrassing and I found myself shopping for shirts that would go up all the way to my neck so it wouldn't show. When the dermatologist saw it, she suspected it was gougerot-carteaud syndrome but had to take a biopsy to know for sure. In the mean time while we waited for the results, she gave me a free sample of Solodyn and told me that if it was what she thought it was, this medicaiton would help. After about a week and a half, the rash was almost completely gone. When my Doc saw me next she was really surprised at how fast it worked. She gave me another prescription. I have been taking it and so far I haven't had any problems. My skin looks completely normal again. No hair loss but I will talk to my doc about this the next time I go in for a check up. I would recommend it. I don't know how well it works on acne but I do have very mild acne so it would be great to see that improve too.Read More Read Less

This has been the only med to work for me. I have cystic acne. This and drinking A LOT of water every day really helps.

My 15 year old daughter has been on this for 10 weeks now. It got worse as others have said, but has NEVER improved. She now has acne on her back and facial blemishes have gotten bigger. We are both mortified as she is getting ready for Homecoming!! Help!

My dr gave me a month sample of Soladyn and it seemed to be clearing things up, however, when I went to fill the prescription I discovered that Cigna won't cover it and my pharmacy said it would be $1,200 out of pocket per month (no that is not a typo). Until there a generic don't bother trying this.

I am a 55 years old female. I was given Solodyn for rosea by my dermatologist. I started taking the recommended dose a few days ago which is a pill in the morning and one at night. A few hours after taking it today my heart felt like it was beating out of my chest and I was short of breath. I took my blood pressure and it read 178/138 and my heart rate was 132. I have NEVER been that high even when I'm off my blood pressure meds.I stay at around 135/82 and heart rate never over 70 at my highest! I really believe this medication is the culprit. If I hadn't already had bp lowering med I would have had to go to ER. I just threw both bottles in the trash. I would rather have rosea than a stroke or heart attack. Read More Read Less
