My experience with this drug has been phenomenal. I have seen it work in as little as two weeks. Of course with all new acne medications, it makes your skin worse before it gets better. I would say that after the first week, my skin started to really clear up quite nicely. I would recommend this product to anyone. As far as eating something with this medication, i have not felt any side effects of...

Was on this medication for a week until I got a VERY painful yeast infection followed by severe diaherria. I ended up going to the hospital where I needed IV for the dehydration and I ended up having a UTI as well. I've never had a yeast infection or UTI prior to taking this medication, so I'm assuming this was the cause. Stopped taking it. I would say my skin "glowed" a little more and felt much ...

Don’t listen to the bad reviews! I’m a severe medicine-phobe and emetophobe, and listened to all of the reviews at first. I was terrified to take it because I am sensitive to medicines. But when my only other option was inpatient admission for IV antibiotics, I opted to try it. It has been a week and I am still on it for a few more days, but my abscess is finally healing! I made sure to eat something with every dose, even if it was just peanut butter crackers or rice, something that would sit well in my stomach. I had some minor nausea, headache, and weakness for the first couple days, but now I’m adjusting and having no side effects at all despite being on 100mg twice a day for ten days. I’m even eating less with each dose since the nausea is minimal to none. I am grateful for this med! My abscess is slowly resolving, and the redness was fading away within 24 hours of starting the doxycycline, when other antibiotics weren’t helping at ALL and it was only getting worse. Every person is different and reacts to things differently, and more people write reviews on bad experiences over good ones, so please don’t be afraid and give it a try! I’m a highly anxious person so the good reviews helped me a lot. I hope this helps you too! Please don’t be afraid. Sincerely, a fellow severe-worrier!Read More Read Less

I was prescribed 7 days worth of doxycycline for a chest infection. The tablets were small and easy to take and other than a particularly sleepless night, I was ok. However since day 5, I have been smelling smoke continuously. My sleep has been very poor and overall, I have been feeling really down and not my usual self. It has been driving me mad as I could not understand what was happening. I finished the tablets on day 7 and my cough does appear to be improving but I am left wondering if it was worth it. I am now concerned about how long this phenomenon will last. I wondered if the Doxycycline was responsible so Googled it and found this website. I was actually grateful to find that someone had posted that they were suffering with the same issue regarding the smell of smoke/burning. I have seriously been questioning my sanity this week. I am annoyed that my doctor prescribed this as if it was a normal antibiotic and gave no warning of the myriad of possible side effects. Maybe I should have stopped once I started to smell burning but I had no clue. I obviously am only sharing my experience. Everyone is different and others may have better interactions with Doxycycline Read More Read Less

Had a uti that my D-Mannose didn't make go away a few years ago. (E coli can't stick to bladder wall with d mannose, this is the magic stuff in cranberry juice). Doc then treated me. Big mistake to take nitrofurantoin as it killed e coli but left ureaplasma to thrive and the tiny bacteria embed in my damaged bladder wall. Usually they can't do damage as they are too tiny, but wall was damaged due to assault by e coli. Welcome cystitis, which is just a term given when they can't find anything. I knew better. Went to infectious disease specialist and he gave my urine a DNA test they found common ureaplasma. Treated me with 100 MG doxycycline twice a day 10 days and I was cured. Nothing worked before. Refused a fluoroquinolone- that's like playing Russian Roulette.. Flash forward, but this time its Enterococcus faecalis, doc tried to treat with dangerous fluoroquinolone again even though it's not effective against this bacteria. It's not their Achilles tendon that's permanently damaged. Told her about doxycycline. Been on it for a few days. Infection is gone but need to finish course to eradicate so as not to create any superbugs??. Love this antibiotic. I do think I gain weight, and my skinny dog did too, but it is minimal. No extra hunger, not sure why small Weight gain. But this works on different types of bacteria because it attacks differently. Read More Read Less

Felt it start working after 4 days of 10 day regimen. Needed every pill for those 10 days to get well. Don't stop taking your prescription until instructed to do so. Good medicine with no side effects to report. Stay well and take care everyone!

I was prescribed 100 mg twice a day for 7 days for a sinus infection. The medication destroyed my stomach. After 4 days I couldn’t eating without experiencing extreme stomach pain and constant diarrhea. I atopped myself because the doctors blew me off when I called back to ask questions. 3 weeks later and I still have issues after eating. I don’t get the diarrhea anymore but still get stomach pains after I eat anything. Never had this issue until I took the medication for the first time.

started taking this antibiotic after it was prescribed for a slight throat infection for 7 days (100mg) and immediately had extreme insomnia and other mental health affecting side effects from the first night. by night 4 I have barely slept in 3 days (2 hours a night and that is not a constant either as I wake up every 10 minutes) and it’s heightened my pre existing anxiety and panic attacks ten fold. I am spiralling out of control every single day and feeling extremely suicidal with ideation constantly. I’m scared that this poison has changed my brain chemistry forever and even though I have two more doses left after today I don’t think I can deal with the effects of this anymore. will be requesting to never get this prescribed ever again, doctors dismiss everything you experience when brought up to them about it which is also not good at all. avoid this antibiotic with your life. please. I am scared of meds. I waited 3 months before treating the lyme--russian roulette? but I never had a symptom? ANyways glad I am taking it now, and good news ZERO SIDE EFFECTS to my surprise. It is a breeze but I was prescribed MONO_HYDRATE form which is easier to tolerate. Good luck all.

I took Doxycycline for about six months for my acne. It cleared right up! I really didn't have many side effects other than increased anxiety but I have been dealing with it for my entire life so it did not really take a toll on me the only sad part is that your skin doesn't stay clear unless you are on it. I got off of it for my gut health.

I presented with erythema migrans but had experienced some muscle stiffness, fatigue, and irritability a week or so prior. As soon as I saw the bite, I put it together and went to the doctor. I was prescribed Doxycycline hyclate 100mg 2 times a day for 10 days. Nausea was exhausting and occured every morning if not on and off throughout the day. Diarrhea as well. After getting Ondansetron prescribed for the nausea, it has been pretty smooth sailing. I can eat now (yippee!) I took antibiotic resistant Florastor which I purchased out of pocket a which I believe is helping. The bite cleared up quickly but beyond that, I wasn't experiencing many Lyme symptoms so I'm unsure if the antibiotics "worked" or not. The stomach pain can be extremely discouraging at times but please finish what you were prescribed within the realm of normal side effects. Ask for stomach quelling medication if necessary. Chronic Lyme is way worse than anything Doxy could give you/make you feel!Read More Read Less

For me, this medicine acted like syrup of ipecac. I tried different ways to keep it down. *Eating then taking 1 capsule. Threw up. *Eating, taking 1 capsule, standing for 3 hours. Threw up when I sat down. *Opening 1 capsule and microdosing 10 times a day. Threw up on the 3rd day. *Taking over the counter nausea medicine, eating, taking 1 capsule, standing, threw up as soon as I sat down. This medicine did not work for me because I couldn't keep it down.

I was prescribed to take it for 5 days, two times a day. I've noticed a change in my cystic acne they are now showing up at half the size and not as frequent than before. I only had three side effects from Doxycycline Hyclate, which was eyelid swelling, irritated gums/ peeling, and joint pain. Neither side effect were servere and didn't last no longer than a week if that. Lol my eyelid swelling did scare me though, I thought I had a stroke in my sleep for a quick second, because of course I googled ?? eyelid swelling causes. It's been a month since I last took Doxycycline Hyclate.Read More Read Less

I’m taking doxycycline hyclate 100 mg tablets to treat chronic sinusitis, post covid. I told my doctor that antibiotics often upset my guts and cause a Crohn’s flare, but he dismissed it as a myth. Now here I am after 4 days of taking it, with one of the worst flares that I had in 10 years, bloody stools, diarrhoea about 20 times a day, not exaggerating. This should not be given to IBD patients, if they are in remission and it’s used for something else. Taking Loperamide and Probiotics doesn’t help it either. I’m now house ridden, cannot go to work or even drive to the doctors thanks to this medication.Read More Read Less

I started taking doxycycline for BV and Chlamydia and i’ve been violently throwing up ever since. congestion and sinus pressure, headache and dizziness. total depersonalization, I feel like my body is shutting down on me. I’m writing this at the ER with an IV and 2 shots of Zofran in me now i’m finally stable enough to use my phone. God knows why my first experience at an older OBGYN has landed me with this horrible experience but I don’t know what to do about this! I have no symptoms of either BV or C. I just want to be healthy again.Read More Read Less

I am currently taking doxycycline hyclate 100 mg tablets for the very first time to heal a bacterial skin infection. I have never had this sort of reaction to a prescription drug in my life. Ever since starting my prescription, I have been anxious, over-emotional to the point of being hysterical, and hopeless with constant suicidal ideation. If I wasn't taking this medication, I would think that I had lost my mind. It is that bad. I have also been experiencing extreme fatigue, joint and muscle aches, abdominal pain, nausea, painful flatulence that I could only think was gastritis, and a strange almost burning sensation on my skin. I cleared/approved all of the other medications I am currently taking with my pharmacist before use. Double-checked possible drug interactions and nothing. Double-checked the pills to make sure I was actually taking the right medication even. I have been on this medication for nine days now and still have five more days (of taking it two times per day) with no relief in sight. These side effects are severe and absolutely no joke. It is disheartening to read other reviews putting people down when there is no way anyone would ever choose to feel like this. We are writing to warn you to do you research as this is impacting people's lives and there is no way you can tell if you will be one of those affected adversely. I have been in contact with my pharmacy but they said there are no reports of adverse symptoms like those I am experiencing and to contact my doctor. Really? Have you looked on the internet because it is all over the place; There are legitimate reports that people have taken their own lives while using this medication. It is not funny or a game or a rouse for attention! I was not taken seriously there, although family and friends are urgently expressing concern and begging to stop use. Cannot stop use due to infection though. Calls to doctor have gone unanswered. Will be driving to the office to demand assistance in another day or two if no response. I cannot express how horrible this drug has made me feel and am honestly scared to keep taking it. I will definitely be requesting that it never be prescribed to me in future. I am shocked that it is given to children and teenagers, considering the risks. If you have been able to use it without any issues, I applaud you and am thankful for your lucky situation.
