This is a good med. I have been chronic pain patient following car accident 10years ago. I was on oxycontin and percocet for break through... this is better. It took three months before I think I got the full effect of what it cold do for me. Something about the receptors being fully turned on for this med. I was frustrated at first, needing something for breakthrough. I am glad I trusted the phys...

By far the most effective opioid drug I have taken. Seven years of relief from CRPS. Car accident: both hips fractured, left femur fractured, meniscus torn left knee, lumbar spinal stenosis, herniated disc, whole body central neuropathic pain 24/7 365. On a good day my pain level can get down to 3-4. It hurts to type this review. Oxymorphone is a lifesaver. If only I could get prescribed enough medication for an entire month. DEA guidelines cause suffering and needless pain based on non scientific, non personalized numbers pulled from thin air. In 2012 I was prescribed Oxymorphone 30 mg, 60 a month, Oxycodone 30mg, 150 a month, Ketamine 25 mg, 60 a month and I had enough medication for 30 days, NEVER a problem, ever. Yet I am punished, undermedicated because heroin user's are getting Fentanyl hot shots. Patients suffering severe, intractable pain should get enough medication to bring under control, 3-4, without side effects or addiction without the need to stay under mythical levels e.g. 90 new. Oxymorphone is a lifesaver and boosts my quality of life dramatically. Read More Read Less

My pain doctor of 8 years decided to cut my pain medication based upon a CDC article on opioid overdosing. The CDC set a scale of 100 for the limit dosage. My score was 105. He reduced my Morphine ER from 30 mg to 15mg. After 3 days I was in the E.R. fighting withdrawal. Another pain doc picked me up and put me on this drug. I experienced immediate relief. It is fast acting but seems to "run dry" just about an hour before it is due. Over all, I am relieved as it works better than Percocet and even tho it runs dry, it still lasts longer than the Percocet. I have some scalp itching that I have never had before. It is a small price to pay for the improvement in my quality of life. I know my body will pay a price for using this drug (or other opioids) but now I can attend my Church three times a week. I can shop for my groceries and do a few other chores where otherwise I would have been stuck in bed. Without the pain meds I would be useless. I have had 4 surgeries on my spine in the last 10 years to deal with compression, ruptures, stenosis, and bone growth from scar tissue. I use a cane now in place of a wheelchair. All because of pain management. I have had every possible form of therapy from acupuncture and ti Chi to the surgeries mentioned. Without the meds I would be frozen in a bed wishing and waiting to die. This medication may not be the best, nor the cheapest (I have a $100 copay for 60 10mg pills a month), but it works. It is part of the best combination of pain meds I have taken and I am most greatful to the makers. God bless them and the work that they do.Read More Read Less

Have tried many narcotic and non narcotic drug combinations before, and Iâ??d have to say that Roxicodone (oxycodone HCL) is the best for my pain. Recently added Oxymorphone ER (Opana ER), for round the clock pain management. Due to my tolerance to roxicodone, my doctor also switched me to oxymorphone IR (regular Opana). The IR isnâ??t as affective in treating my chronic shoulder pain (3 previous failed surgeries, need to get a TSR) over the roxicodone, but still relatively affective in managing my pain to the point I can still work and lead a â??normalâ? life. Overall recommendation, give it a chance. It may take 1-3 weeks for the medication to take full effect, due to the process of having to build up, but once it does, it is definitely effective. My dr prescribed to help with pain throughout the day. Taken 10mg 2x's helps somewhat. I believe its a dose thatis too low, but Im afraid of going higher because of addiction. So I am comfortable with this dosage. I also take hydrocodone for breakout pain.

Have been on this medicine for over a year. have failed back surgery, L-6 ,L-5 spinal fusion, epidurals, percutinitsis discectomy and etc. Makes life worth living again and I can get up and go to my job. Does cause nausea sometimes, but only if taken on empty stomach. Keep the faith and keep pushin on!

Bad back (several herniated discs w/surgery) and bad hips (one already replaced with the other starting down that road) requires opiod painkillers - tried them all with Opana IR working the best (both in pain relief and lower side effects), followed closely by generic ER. I was up to 90 mg Opana IR and have reduced now to 60 mg generic ER...the Opana ER sucks! I do not want to reduce anymore or switch to another opiod, but the damn Feds and State regulators are putting so much pressure on the doctors and pharmacies trying to get patients off these meds because of the trumped-up fear of overdosing, which really pisses me off as I have complete control of my situation and do not need any "big brother" to watch over me!!Read More Read Less

I was taking Morphine Sulphate (ER) 200 mg 3 x per day for chronic, severe pain. When it didn't work as well after a number of years, my physician switched me to Oxymorphone (ER) 30 mg 2 x per day. I got immediate relief from most of my chronic, severe pain and a reduction in the severity of the chronic, severe pain that continued. I also experienced fewer episodes of Breakthrough Pain with lesser severity thereof. I take the oral concentrate of Oxycodone 20 mg/mL for BP and was able to reduce the amount of that medication. So, I consider the switch to be very successful in terms of pain control.Read More Read Less

I've been in severe chronic pain due to 4 bone grafts and plate in neck alone with various back and severe nerve damage. I,ve been on just about everything out there. The best for pain was 80mg oxicotine. the downfall was that was just heroin made in a lab leagally which was a nightmare of coming off. Opana or Oximorphone has help greatly with my pain. I dony give it a 5 star only because I don't think there is any pain med to take all your pain away. for moderite pain I would go with something a little lighter but for severe or chronic I give this my thumbs up.quick note. to the gentleman that gave it all 1 stars and said if you don't take your does right away you will go thru withdraws withen an hour or so.if you are missing doses then maybe you should be on something lighter. because this medicine is for chronic to severe pain management and as much as I hate to admit it. people in the pain were in are clock watchers and take our meds on a regular interval. and my friend if your experience withdraws withen an hour. Please seek rehab. Read More Read Less

I was put on oxymorphone as an alternative to oxycodone which I had been on as a breakthrough for over 6 years. My current level of oxycodone IR was 15mg up to 4 times a day. It was losing its effectiveness. It took two of the 15mg to breakthrough. I was prescribed 10mg of oxymorphone up to 4 times a day. This seemed to be equivalent to the 15mg oxycodone. Then I read that it must be taken on an empty stomach for max effectiveness. I don't think it is intended for IR breakthrough application.Read More Read Less

I have suffered with osteoarthritis and several herniated discs from both lumbar and cervical area for ten plus years. Over the years I have gone from 5 mg hydrocodone to 80 mg oxycontin and every thing in between. Opana ER to me has been the most effective with very few side effects, mostly the grogginess that I always felt from oxycontin and fetanayl patches. Now I hope with the Dr's help to find a good immediate release medication for breakthrough pain.

I have been on a different generic form of this medication for 3 years, from Endo pharmaceutical co. it has worked to keep my pain bearable. For the past 2-3 weeks I have had a flare up in pain that has been intolerable. I wasn't sure what I had done to cause the increase in pain. I decided to look at my medication bottle, and there it was. It was a different generic, this medication I'm writing review for. It now said Roxanne Labs. Not all generics are created equal!! I will talk to my pharmacist and my doctor to make sure I don't have to take this ineffective generic again. No one should have to try and function with high level of pain, because of companies that make these meds. poorly and try to pass them off as the same. The only thing that was the same was the price. I was crushed by a load of steel. 10 disc injured and operated on. right shoulder and right elbow broken and operated on. This drug has helped me with my pain management very much. The name brand Opana DOESN'T work but the generic form Oxymorphone is great. I hope this helps someone and God Bless you all.
