My neurologist precribed Topomax for chronic migraines that are accompanied by pins and needles all over. It helped somewhat with the migraines but it exacerbated the severity of pins and needles which was not pleasant. I've also suffered short term memory loss and extreme difficulty concetrating and I've been off the drug for three months and I am still having memory issues. Another side effect ... Comment:
Although my migraines seem to be under control I feel confused at times and forget word associations. I have been diagnosed with cerebrovascular disease and suffer at times with cluster headaches. I wonder if there is a safer medication to take?

I REALLY COULDN'T TELL IF THE HEADACHES STOPPED OR NOT, I DID REALIZE MY HAIR WAS SLOWLY FALLING OUT AND THIS WAS THE ONLY MEDICINE I WAS ON TO CAUSE IT. MY DOCTOR SAYS, "YEAH THAT COULD HAPPEN, BUT IT WAS KIND OF TOO LATE."

I am a 26 year old Female, and I was put on Topamax in early 2009 for Migraine prevention. I was taking on average 12-16 Advil per day in order to prevent headaches, so my neurologist put me on Topamax. I started out with taking 75mg a day, but I was still getting headaches. The dr increased the medicine 25mg each time, and I am currently on 250mg a day and that works great for me. At the begi ... Show Full Comment
